WWII US Ike Jacket Armored Division 40th Battalion Named

De ike jacket heeft zo zijn gebruikssporen. Hier en daar zitten wat plekjes. Ook het label is nog redelijk leesbaar. De strepen op de jas staan voor de rang private binnen het Amerikaanse leger. De collar disk staan voor iemand binnen de Armored divisions.

De jas heeft een ruptured duck patch voor eervol ontslag, 4 overseas bars en een patch van de armored division. Aan de binnenzijde van de jas staat de naam Perruzzi met code 0728, ofwel zijn Laundry code is P-0728. Hieronder staat 40th Battalion, wat gezien de Armored division patch vermoedelijk verwijst naar het 40e tank battalion.

Het 40e tankbattalion vocht onder andere bij Overloon, St. Vith en Remagen. Ik heb onderzoek gedaan naar de naam/jas maar kon geen duidelijk bewijs of verwijzing naar een lid in het 40e tank battalion vinden. Een interessante jas voor verder onderzoek en een mooie jas voor de Amerikaanse verzamelaar!

The Ike jacket has its traces of use. There are some spots here and there. The label is also still reasonably legible. The stripes on the jacket represent the private rank within the American army. The collar disk represents someone within the Armored divisions.

The jacket has a ruptured duck patch for honorable discharge, 4 overseas bars and an armored division patch. On the inside of the jacket is the name Perruzzi with code 0728, or his Laundry code is P-0728. Below is 40th Battalion, which given the Armored division patch probably refers to the 40th tank battalion.

The 40th tank battalion fought at Overloon, St. Vith and Remagen, among others. I researched the name/jacket but could find no clear evidence or reference to a member in the 40th tank battalion. An interesting coat for further research and a nice coat for the American collector!
